Recommended Websites
News & Commentary
CNN Not the most objective news
organization on the planet, but they have a very user-friendly web
layout.
Drudge Report The
great-granddaddy of the link aggregation sites, and the scourge of
the traditional American news industry. A great place to find news
stories not reported in the national media.
Investor's Business Daily
Since the Wall Street Journal has put most of their content behind a
paywall, IBD is now a favorite source of economics, business, and
general news.
Instapundit The
granddaddy of aggregation sites. The author is a prefessor of
Constitutional Law at the University of Tennessee. He sees things
from a Constitutional, small "L" libertarian perspective, with lots
of content relating to his other interests; technology, sci-fi, etc.
Althouse Ann Althouse's
blog. Another law prof. Commentary on politics and culture, with
some wit.
NewsBusters A site which
critiques and fact-checks the national press.
The Washington Examiner
A small independent newspaper covering the DC swamp.
National Post One of the
major Canadian newspapers, with a conservative bent. Well-written
editorials.
Samizdata A blog by a bunch
of British libertarians. Offers some interesting commentary on
Britain and the EU.
Powerline A blog on
politics, culture, and economics.

Thomas
Sowell If you are not familiar with Sowell, you should take a
look. He is an economics professor who also opines on culture and
politics. You'll find upwards of a thousand videos on YouTube
featuring Sowell.
Angry Bear Economic
analysis from a left-wing perspective.
Greg Mankiw's blog
Economic analysis from a right-wing perspective. I have one of
Mankiw's economics textbooks; its quite good.
Marginal Revolution
Another econ blog.
Stephen Bainbridge's
blog He's a law prof, but much of his content involves
economics and business.
Megan McArdle's
column in The Atlantic When she writes on cultural topics, her
stuff is half-baked IMO. But her writing on business and economics
is very, very good.
Humor
Dilbert Not only funny, but
insightful commentary on life in the cube farm.
xkcd A comic for nerds.
The Onion A faux news service
that presents fictional news satirizing modern culture. All too
often, a farcical story in the Onion is eventually replicated in
real life.
Best
Of The Web Today Due to the WSJ's format, I cannot provide a
direct link. Look for the "Best of the Web Today" link on the
Opinion Journal page. Some news, some commentary, some humor
(usually down at the bottom of the page).
There, I Fixed It A
hilarious visual compendium of bubblegum-and-bailing-wire repairs.
Part of the failblog.org family of web sites. Warning; while There,
I fixed It is pretty clean, quite a bit of content on Failblog is
not safe for work. There's also a lot of juvenile stuff that I don't
always get. At the bottom of each page, there are links to the other
websites. I enjoy Lovely Listing, Failbook, WIN!, Very
Demotivational, and GraphJam.
